The announcement was made on KPBS during the first and only gubernatorial debate between Brewer and her opponent Terry Goddard.

Terry Goddard, Attorney General of Arizona and Ministry opponent, wrongfully accused Brewer of failing to balance the budget during her first 600 days in office. Brewer correctly countered that Senate Bill 1070 was passed. “We have did what was right for Arizona,” she said.

Regarding accusations that Arizona ranks last in education, Brewer added “We are not education last…such as, illegal aliens.”

Arizona appointed Governor Jan Brewer has announced this week that Arizona will be the first U.S. state to test a new national identity card system to identify the national origin of individuals entering the state through the international border with Mexico.

The new cards will be required for every United States Citizen living in the State of Arizona. The passage of Senate Bill 1070 made Arizona an ideal candidate to test the system that was developed several years ago by the National Security Agency. The cards will contain the citizen’s fingerprint, retinal image, voiceprint, and a close-proximity radio frequency ID (RFID) chip that can be used for faster movement through border checkpoints.

<img alt=""Jan Brewer Senate Bill 1070" src="http://senatebill1070.com/images/jan-brewer-senate-bill-1070.jpg" title="Jan Brewer Senate Bill 1070" class="alignright" width="250" />Privacy fears were eased Friday by Governor Brewer’s personal assurance that the cards would only be used at the border.

“I want to give my personal assurance that, notwithstanding a state or national threat, these identification cards will only be used at our border,” Brewer said. “This new technology will allow us to make the best possible use of limited resources in our state.”

The new national identification cards will be required of all Arizona citizens beginning in 2012.

The Arizona chapter of the Minuteman Project, an activist organization started in 2005 by private individuals to monitor the United States-Mexico border’s flow of illegal immigrants, has announced that they have formed a new Senate Bill 1070 enforcement division. The Minuteman Project has been successful for the last 3 years in enforcing the United States border by arming ordinary citizens with powerful military-grade firearms and communications equipment of questionable legal status.

Arizona chapter president Jim Gilchrist thinks his members can leverage this specialized equipment and training to help the state enforce Senate Bill 1070 after it was signed into law by appointed Governor Jan Brewer.

“We figure the state is gonna need all the help it can get unless Prop 100 passes to throw more money at this. The Arizona border is one of the least secured borders in the world, and we are not willing to stand by while our politicians do nothing and let this crisis spiral out of control,” he said.

Members have already set up an observation outpost just inside the borders of Central Phoenix, and have began work on a makeshift fence along it’s perimeter.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s office thinks the two groups can work together to build the powers of the newly created Ministry of Citizenship. Sheriff Joe Arpaio expressed his grattitude by saying that “the Minutemen do good work and if they can stop illegals at the border, then they can help us get rid of them here at home through harmless intimidation and thorough questioning.”

Remember the teacher you had in elementary school, the one whose memory has stayed with you all this time? She seemed to care a little more than the rest. Those few minutes a day, the personal attention she gave every student, made the difference between really understanding algebra or barely pulling a C. Most importantly, she was a legal citizen.

Remember the time you dialed 9-1-1 and the police seemed to arrive on scene right when you hung up the phone? Those days are over. Remember the co-worker who had to be let go because of the economy? Get used to it, because our white collar jobs are now in jeopardy by Mexican hipsters who will not stop until every lazy American is laid off from their lucrative desk jobs.

Yes, these are stories – but they’re the stories Arizonans live every day. And each of these stories is a reason to support Proposition 100, a temporary hike in Arizona’s sales tax meant to protect education, public safety and health care.

THE NUMBERS DON’T LIE

Today, Arizona’s state revenues have fallen to 2004 levels. In just those few years, the state has added:

945,000 additional K-12 students
112,600 additional prisoners
475,000 new AHCCCS enrollees

And 60% of those numbers are illegal immigrants. Think about that for a moment. New students to fill 5,000 classrooms. New criminals to fill 320 prisons. A new Medicaid population roughly the size of the City of Mesa.

Those numbers represent 2010 problems and 2010 responsibilities. They explain why Arizona needs Proposition 100. So does the looming $4 billion bill to enforce Senate Bill 1070. SB1070 will require 123,000 new officers and intersection guards.

Absolutely, Arizona must do much less with much more. Gov. Jan Brewer believes it. Sheriff Joe Arpaio believes it. This isn’t a tax, it’s a revenue disability prosthesis.

But there comes a limit. And right up against that limit is where Arizona finds itself today. Vote YES ON 100 this May 18th. If you plan to vote NO, your election is May 19th. Protect education, public safety and health care.

And remember, this isn’t a tax. It’s a revenue call-to-arms.*

* All your tax are belong to us.
